Education & Career Development Programs in this core area encourage students to engage in fun, educational activities.  The Club offers programs to help equip young people for future success. The Club offers the following programs:

      Head of the Class

Members receive homework assistance and individual tutoring. Worksheets are available to supplement homework activities. The fall program schedule is Tuesday through Thursday from 3- 4:30PM and Friday from 3-4PM.

      Project Learn

The Project Learn program allows students to reinforce and enhance skills learned at school while at the Club. Staff use all the Club programs to create learning activities e.g. leisure reading, spelling bees, art classes and educational games. Rewards are given upon reaching certain goals.

      Bag-A-Job Program

Once a year the Club partners with Food City to offer teens the opportunity to learn the necessary skill for entering today’s workforce.  During the six-session program youth learn how to complete a job application as well as the proper dress and etiquette for job interviews.  At the conclusion of the program
each participant is interviewed by a Food City manager for employment.  The next program will be in the spring of 2012.

      Merit Store

Members can earn Merit Dollars through participating in various activities at the Club.  Through this program youth learn the value of saving and spending wisely.  Items club members can “purchase” includes school supplies, clothing and toys.

      Young Men/Women of Distinction

Through special invitation, small groups of teens participate in this multi-session program.  Community leaders present their valuable life experiences to aid these young people in becoming tomorrow’s leaders.  Etiquette in both business and daily life situations are presented.  Our local jcpenney store sales associates volunteer with this program.
