Health & Lifeskills Programs in this area develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults. The following are offered by the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown:
SMART Moves (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training)
The SMART Moves prevention program helps young people resist alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, as well as premature sexual activity. The classes are broken down to age appropriate material in the following groups: Start SMART: ages 10-12 on Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-5:15PM; and Stay SMART: ages 13-15 on Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-6:15PM.
Triple Play: Healthy Habits
Triple Play’s nutrition component, called Healthy Habits, empowers youth to eat right. The program covers the power of choice, calories, vitamins and minerals, the food pyramid and appropriate portion size.
